Our Story

Sunbury Physio was established way back in 1985, the year that Essendon won the VFL premiership, minimum chips were 30 cents and most of our team members were not yet born.  Since our humble beginnings Sunbury Physio has grown and evolved as organisation while remaining true to our ethos of serving the communities of Sunbury and the Macedon Ranges to "Own their Best” and achieve their maximum potential in work, life and sport.

Humble Beginnings

Sunbury Physio commenced as a partnership in 1985 with the practice based in Brook Street, Sunbury, Marc Di Paolo became the Sole director in 1986 and proudly steered the practice in its infancy, relocating to 20 Horne Street in 1995 and building the “famous” yellow and blue building that is only now in 2020, perhaps sadly, getting a new colour palette.

Marc Di Paolo stepped back from the directorship in 2009, as Justine Barrow took over the reins.  Justine had grown up in New Gisborne, and firstly undertook her secondary school work experience at Sunbury Physiotherapy and then worked here as a receptionist during her uni studies.  After graduating her physiotherapy degree Justine worked elsewhere, but the pull of Sunbury Physio was too great and she came back to work as a physiotherapist in the practice in 2003, and was humbled and grateful to take over the ownership in 2009

Just as Sunbury, Gisborne, New Gisborne, Macedon, Kyneton, Riddells Creek, Diggers Rest and Bulla have grown exponentially over the last 35 years, Sunbury Physiotherapy now has a team of 11 physiotherapists across two locations, including Gisborne and Sunbury. We are proud of each of these physiotherapy team members and the dedication, professionalism, integrity and compassion that they bring in serving their clients.

The here and now

At Sunbury Physiotherapy “Good” or ”Better” does not suffice, we always strive for excellence.

Clients achieving their goals, improving their pain and recovering from injury in the quickest and best possible manner, is our reason for existing.

Likewise, as much has changed in technology, society and the science landscape since Sunbury Physio’s inception over three decades ago our organisation and physiotherapists have remained committed to evolving to be at the very cutting edge of medical and sports science, ensuring that we are offering our clients the very best, latest and evidence based treatments.

However, as much as things change, the most important things often stay the same and our physiotherapists and support team are always ready with a smile, laugh and empathetic ear to really listen and hear our clients health concerns, their current limitations and future goals.  This allows us to establish accurate diagnoses and work in partnership with our clients to formulate the very best, individualised treatment plans to guide our clients to optimal health outcomes and peak performance.
